FTL surveys

A FTL survey certifies whether a vessel’s cargo holds are ready to receive export grain under the Australian Export Regulations. The survey covers every nominated hold, and the certificate gives a clear, qualified opinion on the vessel’s readiness to load.

During a FTL survey we inspect:

Under deck frames and face plates
Shell plates and upper brackets
Hold ladders and pipe guard brackets
Tank tops
Bilges, which must be clean and dry
Residues of previous cargoes such as coal
Cargo hold interior during a cleanliness inspection

Before loading

Cargo hold cleanliness inspections

Before a bulk carrier can load, its holds must be free of previous cargo residues, loose rust and scale, and standing water. We inspect each hold individually and report its condition, so cleaning crews can be directed to exactly the areas that need work.

Re-inspection after cleaning confirms the vessel is ready for its lay days.
