Grain and bulk cargo
Fit to load surveys
A fit to load survey certifies whether a vessel’s cargo holds are ready to receive export grain under the Australian Export Regulations. The survey covers every nominated hold, and the certificate states clearly whether the vessel is fit to load or the reasons it is not.
During a fit to load survey we inspect:

Before loading
Cargo hold cleanliness inspections
Before a bulk carrier can load, its holds must be free of previous cargo residues, loose rust and scale, and standing water. We inspect each hold individually and report its condition, so cleaning crews can be directed to exactly the areas that need work.
Re-inspection after cleaning confirms the vessel is ready for its lay days.
